ALH142 - Fundamentals of Disease Processes

ALH142 "Fundamentals of Disease Processes" is a four (4) credit hour course that reviews the pathological changes associated with the most common diseases of each body system. The course incorporates real life scenarios, case studies and controversial issues that are in the forefront of most healthcare professionals today. In this course, "You're The Doctor". Topics include causes to disease, cellular injury, inflammatory processes, neoplasms, metabolic disorders, endocrine imbalances, disturbances in blood and body fluids, infectious diseases, physical and chemical injuries, hereditary disturbances and congenital defects.

This is a great introductory course for the healthcare professional who wants to learn about the disease process. This knowledge is critical to understanding health and disease. Students are evaluated by testing, response to case study questions, discussion forum responses and a group writing assignment. I teach only the on-line version of this class but this course is also available for the on-campus student as well.
