Patient Information Handouts

Every quarter in ALH142 - Fundamentals of Disease Processes the students develop several health information handouts. We select topics that cover a wide range of diseases and with time will expand to be quite extensive. The criteria for the students is to develop a patient friendly handout to include the necessary information a patient would want to know, maintain an easy to read format and still keep the length to two pages (single page front and back) so that these handouts could be useful to the average practitioner. For most students the trick to this assignment is to weed through lots of information to select the most important concepts an average person would want to know.

Here are the handouts we have so far...

Addictions

Allergies

Blood Disorders

Brain & Nervous System Disorders

Cancer

Diabetes

Digestive Disorders

Heart Disease & Stroke

Hormone Disorders

Infections

Kidney Disorders

Mental Health & Behavior

Musculoskeletal System Disorders

Neurologic Disorders

Pain Disorders

Respiratory Disorders

Skin Disorders

STIs, HIV and AIDS

The information contained in these handouts has been developed by students at Sinclair Community College as part of a ongoing group assignment for ALH142 "Fundamentals of Disease Processes" and are not intended for personal use without reviewing the associated information of accuracy.
