The Quality Engineering Technology department is proud to assist you with your education and professional development needs. This includes American Society for Quality certification refresher courses, degree and certificate programs, and individual classes. These courses are designed for adult learners and typically feature small classes and "hands on" learning.
Certification
If you plan to sit for the Certified Quality Engineer, Quality Auditor, Software Quality Engineer, Certified Calibration Technician, or Quality Improvement Associate exams on June 2, 2007 then it is time to start planning for your successful completion. Please visit the ASQ web site, www.asq.org, to obtain a certification application and prerequisite requirements.The QET department has a long history of successfully helping quality professionals achieve their desired certification by offering practice based examination preparation classes that stress both content and test methodologies.
If you are not sure whether or not your skills are up to the necessary level for the certification exam then contact Lynn Seery or Jim Houdeshell to schedule access to a computer based practice exam that will help diagnosis your current skill level.

Two ISO courses of interest to many quality professionals required to manage or become ISO Internal Auditors include QET 224 ISO 9000/16949 Documentation; (Wed evening from 6-8:40) and QET 231 ISO 9000/16949 Internal Auditor; (TBA)
The QET Department in conjunction with the National Center for Manufacturing Education received a National Science Foundation grant to develop and test a course delivery method that allows students to take the lecture portion of the class on-line and the laboratory part at a variety of locations either at their company, or at the college. Several courses this Spring are being offered in this delivery mode QET 101/171 Survey of TQ, QET 201/181 Statistical Process Control, QET 132/173 Metallurgy and 133/174 Non-Metallic Materials. The Survey of TQ, and QET 201 Statistical Process Control classes are part of a short term certificate in Continuous Process Improvement. The laboratory sections for these courses are typically offered at the SCC main campus day, evening and sometimes Saturday morning. If you would like to host a laboratory section at your company please contact us.
In addition to these courses the department offers courses in Metrology including CMM (In the Spring term QET 100 Tooling and Machining Metrology (Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday evening), QET 114 Adv CMM, and Metallurgy (QET 173/132 Thursday afternoon and Monday evening) and Non-Metallic Materials (QET 174/133 Monday morning and Monday evening)
