Listed below are the homework assignments for the entire course. Before attempting the problems for a particular unit, first complete that unit's reading assignment and e-Lesson.

All problems are from Thomas Floyd's Principles of Electric Circuits (7th edition).

  • Show your work for any problem that requires a calculation.
  • Unless otherwise specified, record all answers in engineering notation, rounded to three significant digits.
  • For odd-numbered problems, check your answers against the answers at the back of the book.

*In Problems 45 and 46, if a meter reading is not correct, say what the reading should be.

*As part of your answers to Problems 2 and 4, draw diagrams of your equivalent current sources and voltage sources.

Homework #8 (Unit 8: Capacitors in DC Circuits):

If you have the 8th edition of Thomas Floyd's Principles of Electric Circuits, turn in solutions to Problems 1, 2, 4, 5, 16, 21, 22, 25, 26, 27, 28, 30, 31, 32, and 39* on pages 517-520.

If you have the 7th edition of Thomas Floyd's Principles of Electric Circuits, turn in solutions to Problems 1, 2, 4, 14, 19, 20, 23, 24, 25, 26, 28, 29, 30, and 37* on pages 549-551. Also answer the following:
How much energy is stored in a 1000 µF capacitor that is charged to 500 V?

* For Problem #39 in the 8th edition (or Problem #37 in the 7th edition), the book gives an answer of 3.00 µs, but the correct answer is 3.23 µs.

Homework #9 (Unit 9: Inductors in DC Circuits):

If you have the 8th edition of Thomas Floyd's Principles of Electric Circuits, turn in solutions to Problems 1, 2, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21 on pages 557-559.

If you have the 7th edition of Thomas Floyd's Principles of Electric Circuits, turn in solutions to Problems 1, 2, 11, 12, 15, 16, 17, 18, and 19 on pages 591-594.
