NV Rt 50 designated "The Loneliest Road in America" by Life in 1989 - about 400 miles long from Carson City to Utah border. Follows old Pony Express Route.

Sagebrush desert for most of the way. A few towns along the way (Fallon, Austin, Eureka, Ely). Several mountain passes in the 7000-ft range.

Lunch at the International Hotel, built in 1859 in Virginia City and moved to Austin in 1863. Austin NV is named after Austin, TX.
